Choosing the Right UAE Entry Category
The UAE offers several entry routes for Nigerian passport holders, and choosing the wrong category is a common and costly mistake. Tourist visas โ typically 30 or 60 days, single or multiple entry โ are the standard route for holidaymakers, and are processed through approved channels with confirmed return tickets and accommodation.
Multiple-entry permits make sense if your itinerary includes side trips to neighbouring Gulf states; a single-entry visa is invalidated the moment you exit, even to Oman for a day.
The Transit Trap
Gulf hubs are the world's great connection points, but transit is not automatically visa-free for every passport. If your itinerary involves leaving the transit area, an overnight layover, or a self-transfer requiring baggage collection, you may need a transit visa arranged in advance โ discovering this at the departure gate in Lagos is an expensive education.
- Confirm whether your layover requires leaving the transit zone
- Self-transfers almost always require entry clearance
- Hotel stopovers arranged by the airline still need the right permit
Carry the Full File, Even After Approval
A visa approval is not the end of the documentation story. Gulf immigration officers can and do ask for proof of accommodation, return tickets, and sufficient funds on arrival. Carry printed confirmations of everything, and ensure the name on every booking matches your passport exactly.
Our visa desk stays current on GCC entry rules as they shift โ and they shift often. Before you book a Gulf itinerary, a five-minute check with us can confirm your route is clean under the latest rules.
