Not All 'All-Inclusive' Is Equal
The phrase covers three very different products. Standard all-inclusive typically means buffet meals and local beverages. Premium tiers add ร la carte restaurants โ often capped at one or two visits per stay โ and branded drinks. True luxury all-inclusive removes the caps entirely, but costs accordingly.
The question is never 'is it all-inclusive?' but 'which inclusive is it?' A package priced โฆ200,000 lower than a competitor is often simply a tier lower, and you will pay the difference across the bar and the reservation desk.
The Surcharge Audit
Resort fees, service charges, tourism levies and premium dining supplements are routinely excluded from headline package prices. Some Caribbean and Mexican resorts add mandatory daily fees collected only at checkout โ a nasty surprise on the final morning.
- Ask for the total checkout figure, not the nightly rate
- Confirm airport transfers โ 'included' often means one-way
- Check which restaurants require supplements and reservations
- Verify Wi-Fi, minibar and water sports inclusion lines
When to Skip the Package
In cities built for exploration โ Marrakech, Bangkok, Istanbul โ all-inclusive economics work against you. You will eat most meals out exploring anyway, effectively paying for the same dinner twice. Packages shine in resort destinations where leaving the property is the exception, not the plan.
This is exactly the audit we run on every package in our collection โ our published prices itemise flights, hotel nights, transfers, tours and fees so you can see precisely what your money buys. Browse any package on this site to see the breakdown.
