Start With Your Travel Personality, Not the Destination

Most failed trips begin with a destination chosen from someone else's highlight reel. Before you compare cities, define how you actually travel: do you decompress through stillness or stimulation? A traveller who recharges on slow café mornings will return from a hyper-scheduled Tokyo sprint more exhausted than they left.

We ask every client three questions before recommending a single country: how many hours of structure per day do you enjoy, how much unplanned time feels like freedom rather than waste, and what does a perfect evening look like. The answers eliminate two-thirds of the map immediately — and that is precisely the point.

The Real Cost Formula: Flights vs. On-Ground Liquidity

A cheap flight to an expensive city is not a cheap holiday. We evaluate total trip cost as airfare plus daily on-ground liquidity — accommodation, meals, transport, and experiences — multiplied by trip length. A ₦900,000 flight to a destination that costs ₦80,000 a day will outspend a ₦1.4 million flight to a destination that costs ₦25,000 a day within a week.

Currency matters too. Destinations where the Naira or your billing currency stretches further effectively discount every day of your stay, while hard-currency hubs amplify every coffee, taxi and museum ticket.

  • Estimate daily on-ground spend before comparing airfares
  • Factor visa fees and travel insurance into the first-line budget
  • Reserve 15% contingency for transit friction and spontaneous upgrades

Timing Is a Destination Feature

The same city is a different destination in shoulder season. Greece in late September delivers warm seas, uncrowded ruins and hotel rates 30–40% below the August peak. Dubai in November is walkable; Dubai in July is an indoor itinerary. Our month-by-month destination planner exists precisely because the calendar is as important as the map.

Lock your fixed constraints first — school holidays, leave windows, religious observances — then choose the destination that peaks inside your available window, rather than forcing a destination into a window that fights it.

When to Call an Architect

Solo city breaks reward independent planning. Multi-generational trips, honeymoon-tier stakes, complex visa positions and multi-stop itineraries do not. When the cost of a wrong decision exceeds the cost of professional design, the decision is already made.

Our travel architects build every itinerary backwards from your energy profile and budget reality. If you would like a destination shortlist built around you — not an algorithm — our desk is one enquiry away.
