Document Redundancy: Your Safety Net
Every first-time traveller should operate a three-layer document system: the originals in your hand luggage, printed photocopies in your checked bag, and digital scans in your email and phone. Passport data page, visa, travel insurance, hotel confirmations and return tickets โ all of them.
If your passport is lost or stolen abroad, those copies are the difference between a difficult day at the embassy and a ruined trip. Add a note of your embassy's address and emergency number in the destination country before you leave.
The 72-Hour Money Moves
Three days before departure: notify your bank of your travel dates and destinations so your card is not frozen mid-trip, confirm your international spending limits, and arrange a modest amount of destination currency or a multi-currency card for arrival-day expenses.
Never depend on a single card. A primary card, a backup from a different bank, and a small cash reserve form the resilient minimum.
- Inform your bank of travel dates and destinations
- Carry two cards from different banks, stored separately
- Keep $200โ$300 equivalent in cash for arrival-day contingencies
- Save your bank's international helpline offline
Departure Day Choreography
Arrive at the airport three hours before an international departure โ not because the process takes three hours, but because check-in queues, security and immigration each carry variance, and variance is what misses flights.
Keep your passport, boarding pass and any health documentation in a single easily reachable pouch. When in doubt at any airport desk, ask early โ staff are far more helpful to the calm traveller who asks an hour ahead than the panicked one who asks at final call.
You Do Not Have to Figure It Out Alone
Every first departure with Primeline includes a pre-flight briefing: your documents audited, your transfers confirmed, and a human to call from the airport if anything confuses you. Send us your travel date and we will walk you through it.
Turn this briefing into a journey
